What to say?

Now you’re signed up, there are a few important things to go over. Firstly, we just want to make it clear that we would never expect you to say anything about our products that you don’t honestly feel. There’s absolutely no pressure for you to try to ‘sell’ our rods, we believe they speak for themselves! When you do talk about our gear across your platforms though, there are a few things we would love for you to mention.

  1. Compact: We specialise in extra compact fishing rods, so mentioning how portable and convenient our fishing rods are is ideal!
  2. Multi-purpose: All of our rods have different fishing configurations, lengths, tips and cast weights. The fact that you can take one rod with you to serve a variety of different purposes is part of what makes us unique!
  3. Guaranteed: Our two year no questions asked guarantee is a huge deal for us. We are the only company in the world that offer this level of customer service, and that’s something we would love people to know!
  4. GO ANYWHERE, FISH EVERYWHERE: Our rods are made for adventure, and our slogan pretty much sums us up! We’re keen for it to be heard when possible!

Who are our rods for?

Absolutely everybody! While we started our journey as a travel rod company, we are quickly discovering people aren’t just using our gear for travelling. While it’s true we have guys taking our rods on canoe expeditions in the wilderness, up mountains and into the Amazon rainforest, the vast majority of our customers use their rods for everyday purposes.

Our compact fishing rods are perfect for people who go walking, camping, van holidaying and cycling, but they’re also a very convenient choice for people who prefer a less cumbersome approach to fishing. Having something so small makes life a lot easier for those of us who don’t like to carry too much around, it’s much less hassle! Especially those that want to just leave some tackle in the boot of their car for that next random angling opportunity.

Technically, our rods are travel rods, but we see them more as compact multi-function fishing gear that makes life a lot easier. When you showcase our products to your audience, passing on the fact that they’re not just for taking on holiday is very important to us!

How can you create great content?

Now for this section, everyone will be different. We have everything from bloggers to Tik-Tokers using our gear, so there’s no one-size-fits-all method here! You know what works well for you and your audience, so we want you to integrate our products however is natural to you.

Taking some extra time to discuss the unique advantages of our fishing rods and our brand within your content can make a huge difference in conversion. If you take 30 seconds in a YouTube video for example, or a paragraph in a blog, to talk specifically about a product people are much more likely to check it out. This means more brand awareness for us which is fantastic, but also more money in your pocket and a financial return for your time!

What makes a good picture?

We absolutely love getting sent pictures of our equipment in use. We get snaps sent in from all over the world, but there’s a few hacks we can give you to take the best pictures possible, that will have a better chance of it resulting in a sale.

  1. In pictures of products, try to have the rod case visible. That is an excellent way to showcase how compact the gear is!
  2. Please try to ensure any fish you have shown in a picture is handled correctly and respectfully.
  3. Being emotive is also great, a smile or an excited expression really strikes a chord with your viewers!
  4. A picture that shows both the rod and a fish in are great!
  5. Use your location to your advantage! Is there a cool view behind you? Are you somewhere unique and interesting?
  6. Get creative! Rather than just taking one photo, why not take a few from different angles and see which one is best?
  7. Please try to avoid showing fish on the floor, unless they’re on an unhooking mat!

We really appreciate these kinds of pictures, as we are still a small family run business we need all the help we can get! Of course we don’t expect professional standard photo-shoots, but if you could spare a couple of minutes in your fishing trips to get a few pictures that would be massively appreciated. Take a look at some of the pictures showcased through this article for inspiration!

How to use your platform

Now you may only find one or two of the next categories useful, depending on how you have chosen to build your audience. Have a read through, and hopefully you’ll find something useful!

Friends and family: Not all of you will be content creators or influencers, and our affiliate program welcomes absolutely everybody. If you don’t have a social media account, you can still earn commission by spreading the word to friends and family. All you need to do is have a chat about fishing, then send your custom link over. If they decide they like the look of our fishing rods, then great!

Instagram: This is quickly becoming the go-to place for anglers to showcase catches, gear, tactics and more. Here are a few tips for you to use this platform well! Share your rigged and ready content, but also take the time to write a sentence or two about what set-up you’re using, and why you like it in the photo description. But how does this result in earnings?

You can put your custom trackable link on your profile by following these steps: copy link > visit your profile > edit profile > links > add external link > paste. If you have already got a link there, say to a YouTube channel, you can use a third-party service like ‘linktree’.

These are excellent services that allow you to have one clickable link that opens a menu, where you can put your affiliate link instead. It may also be possible for you to explore using the ‘shop’ feature to increase conversion.

Facebook: Unlike Instagram, Facebook allows you to add a clickable link to a post. This means when you post about us, you can add it directly there! This is very convenient, and should result in clicks through to our website, and hopefully commission earning sales.

Pro tip: some fishing groups on Facebook have tens of thousands of members. If you make a compelling post about our gear on one of those, and add your link, you may well find yourself making a significant amount of commission!

YouTube: This is arguably the best platform for building a genuine connection with your audience. It only takes 5 seconds to like an Instagram post, but some people may watch you fishing on YouTube for 10 minutes. Building a successful YouTube channel is no easy task, but if you’re regularly getting views then that engagement is very valuable!

If you take some time during your video to explain what rod you’re using, why you’re using it and the unique benefits it offers, people will listen! Click here to check out a video by Adventure Fishing UK to see an example of how you can integrate a product placement into your videos. This method of promotion often results in sales, and therefore commission!

Tik Tok: Things have to be much briefer and more concise on this platform. Again, like Instagram, you will have to make sure your affiliate link is on your profile, either as your main link, or as part of a linktree. Short product reviews work well on this platform but try to keep it short and sweet! If it’s just some fishing clips, then briefly mentioning the gear in the description really helps.

Blogs: Online blogs and fishing forums like ‘maggotdrowners’ can be excellent ways to reach an audience. If you have a blog, then you already know what to do! Write what you feel like writing, but don’t forget to add your custom link on somewhere. Forums can also be a great place to talk about fishing tackle, or even websites like reddit. If the link gets clicked, wherever the traffic comes from you still earn!

Word of mouth: now this ones a little open ended. You may come across people asking about travel rods online, or gear recommendations in general. If you do, you can always pass on your honest feelings about Rigged and Ready, along with your link. Not only is this good for you, it’s good for them as they’ll be recommended good gear!
