KENDAL MOUNTAIN FESTIVAL

We were proud we, well, Andy Rigg, presented the Kendal Mountain Festival’s first-ever Fishing Film Night, Hooked — a landmark event that delivered a complete sell-out and an unforgettable atmosphere at The Venue, Barrel House.

Fishing Film Night

Kendal Mountain Festival Welcomes Fishing to the Programme

As the UK’s leading outdoor festival, Kendal Mountain Festival’s decision to bring fishing into its programme was a big and exciting step, firmly positioning angling alongside other adventure sports. The packed venue and buzzing crowd on the night made one thing clear: there is a strong and growing appetite for fishing stories within the wider outdoor and adventure community.

Among the standout highlights was the exclusive premiere of a local Adventure Fishing UK film, by George Lamb, celebrating fishing in the Lake District. Showcasing Cumbria’s rivers, lakes and rich angling heritage, the film struck a powerful chord with the audience and was a proud moment to witness at a sold-out Kendal venue.

Also captivating the audience was Harry Crossley from Japan Fishing Adventures, which transported viewers to Hokkaido, offering a fascinating insight into fishing culture and remote landscapes on the other side of the world. This has to be some of the best looking fishing destinations in the world and a great place to catch fish that are unique to Japan

Completing the trio of highlights was Until Journey’s End, a beautifully shot film following fishing adventures across the USA, combining powerful storytelling with truly unforgettable scenery.

We were also proud to have the opportunity to talk about, our local angling club KWAA, Kent Westmorland Angling Association, Free Fishing in the Lake District, as well as the deep-rooted history of fishing in Kendal and the surrounding region, and the Kendal Fishhook. Sharing this heritage and helping shine a light on accessible angling and the cultural importance of fishing in the area added another meaningful layer to an already special evening.

Rigged and Ready X5 Travel Fishing Combinations

We were delighted to give something back to the audience on the night, surprising two lucky ticket holders with Rigged and Ready X5 Travel Fishing Combinations — our ultra-compact, go-anywhere travel rods designed to help anglers fish wherever their adventures take them. Alongside this, our friends at YETI generously provided an impressive range of prizes throughout the evening.
