HOW TO CATCH HUGE FISH ON A BROKEN TRAVEL FISHING ROD...?
An inspiring story of a DIY travel rod repair that resulted in some incredible fish!
We design and manufacture our travel rods to the highest possible standards, but unfortunately sometimes fishing rods still break. We say we have the 'best guarantee in fishing', as we are the only company that replace gear regardless of who is at fault.
But what happens if you're out on a fishing trip and your rod breaks, or if you're somewhere remote? This situation arose recently for angler Carl Dahlen, who was fishing in the Amazon for big catfish using the Infinite Ultimate.
Postage to some of the remote areas of Brazil isn't exactly straightforward, but we were desperate to get Carl fishing again. We pointed him towards a useful repair tutorial online, and here's what happened!
"I reviewed the information you sent me about fixing the rod and went to the local miscellaneous good store to see what parts I could come up with.
A 10 mm screw drive bit did the trick as in insert. I epoxied the drill bit inside the broken pieces of the rod, then used 65 lb braided line as the wrap, then epoxied around the wrap. The fix held and we were back in business!"
"The rod performed very nicely on a couple types of catfish, and with its size configuration flexibility I take it with me pretty much everywhere.
Thanks for the great service you provided!"
While it's not a permanent solution, we were very happy to see Carl back out fishing with his Infinite Ultimate and catching some very impressive fish! A perfect solution until he arrived home to find his new rod section waiting for him, as per our no questions asked two year guarantee!
For those interested in DIY, we will have a rod repair kit coming to our website in spring!
