JOIN ANGLERS FIGHTING AGAINST RAW SEWAGE IN WINDERMERE!
As you have probably seen on the news, Windermere is suffering at the hands of pollution. Water companies are legally, and illegally dumping raw untreated sewage into the Lake, and it's having a drastic impact on the environment.
With blooms of toxic algae, fish kills and changing water chemistry, we risk losing this precious place forever. If you have time, we would massively appreciate you checking out, signing and sharing the petition by clicking here. It's time us anglers come together to try to make a difference, and make up for the shortcomings of the government.
Windermere is part of a UNESCO world heritage site, and is known internationally for it's beauty. It's been attracting anglers for centuries, who come from far and wide for it's productive fishing and picturesque surroundings. Historically, it was a well-known trout and pike lake, but in recent years that has changed.
Fortunately the pike and perch population remain, with specimens of both species getting caught every year. The trout have almost completely disappeared though, and the bream population has absolutely exploded. Anglers on the lake now regularly catch huge bags of sizeable fish, so if wild bream and predator fishing appeal to you then windermere remains an excellent fishing destination!
As we're a Lake District based brand, a lot of fish get caught in Windermere on our rods. For anyone interested, below is a list of what gets used most on the Lake!
Deadbaiting for pike = S Max
Lure fishing for pike = Predator
Feeder fishing for bream = X5 Max
Lure and worm for perch = X5 Adventure
We're very passionate about the Lake District, and we have spent a lot of time compiling an excellent resource helping you discover more free fishing destinations. If you're interested in locations, tips, parking, gear, guides and fishing shops, the click here!
