Micah's videos, which are shot in the untamed and frequently harsh Sierra Nevada mountains, go much beyond standard fishing footage. This is not about crowded waters and speedy catches. It's about the adventure. Hiking into remote locations, kayaking into uncharted lakes, reading wild water and doing the purest, most satisfying form of fishing.

Fishing in the Sierra Nevada mountains

You're out here in the woods, where mountain lions run free. His films combine cinematic storytelling with actual, unscripted experiences on the water, immersing you in a world of unbelievable distant terrain, where it's often one man in the woods, lost in the moment.

A Life Shaped by Fishing

Micah's fishing roots started early in a little hamlet in Western Michigan with a population of about 1,400 people. By the age of 7, he was out on the water, learning not only practical abilities but acquiring an intuitive knowledge of fish behaviour and the surroundings they live in.

The early years were long summer days bass fishing on Michigan's inland lakes, learning patience and observation and respect for the water. Fishing was no longer a hobby, it was a way of observing and comprehending the natural world.

And at the same time, Micah grew to love stories. From childhood he dreamed of working in film, powered by a love for capturing and telling important stories.

From Filmmaking to Fishing Stories

At 19, Micah came to Los Angeles to pursue a career in cinema. He spent seven years honing his story telling abilities, how to tell stories, how to arouse emotions, and how to generate visually attractive stuff.

But something was lacking at the moment.

In 2020, like many, Micah was forced to re-evaluate his dreams. He returned to the California outdoors, to the ocean and the clarity and purpose that had always been part of fishing.

His wife and he drove through rural Alaska for Christmas when the turning point came. That was when everything clicked and he recognised he could combine his lifelong passion for fishing with his expertise in filming.

Until the release of Journey's End in March 2021.

The channel has now evolved into an exciting series of fishing trips that incorporate the whole experience of hunting and fishing in isolated and wild places.

Today, Micah remains a young filmmaker and angler, juggling life as part of a very young family with the expansion of his channel, bringing a fresh perspective and purpose to his travels.

What Makes His Channel Different

What makes Until Journey's End stand out is that the focus is on the entire journey, not simply the end product.

Micah's content features:

  • The work involved in reaching clean water
  • The loneliness of solitary fishing
  • The uncertainty of wild conditions
  • The silent, thinking times between casts

Whether he is going deep into the mountains, paddling his kayak across inaccessible lakes or casting into fast flowing streams for wild, hard-fighting fish, each film has a purpose and authenticity.

This is felt quite strongly throughout his work. It is not rushed or artificial. This is real fishing, in real places, with no guarantee of success.

But what sets Micah apart is his infectious zeal. You can see his passion for fishing and discovery in every second and he pulls you into the adventure.

Fishing the Sierra Nevada Mountains

The Sierra Nevada mountains are a fantastic complement to Micah's style of fishing.

Fishers must bring more to these environments:

  • Long walks in the wilderness
  • Light, careful gear selections
  • The ability to adjust to changing situations

In return they give something rare: lakes that are pristine, untamed streams and fish that battle hard in the genuinely natural habitat.

It's a landscape that makes you feel how wild these places are—quiet, huge, unpredictable. Wildlife, from mountain lions to the stories and legends of Big Foot, add to the atmosphere and sense of solitude that is part of Micah's journeys.

Micah's films are the ultimate embodiment of this equilibrium. You understand the struggle, the effort, and finally the prize of fishing where few ever venture.
