Lake District Diaries: Esme & Harry Living the Lakes

From Kendal to New York – Rigged and Ready marks 10 years. Westmorland Gazette Article
Kendal-based Rigged and Ready is celebrating 10 years in business, having grown into one of the UK’s leading fishing brands.
Founder Andy Rigg recently returned from New York, where he visited Urban Angler in Manhattan — the city where his idea first began. Although the company rarely sells to retailers, the trip proved a success. What started as a plan to sell two rods quickly turned into a much larger order.
The business was inspired back in 2009 when Andy, then working in New York, struggled to find a quality travel fishing rod while fishing in Central Park. He designed one himself, launching the company in 2016 without expecting it to become a full-time venture.
After leaving his marketing job during the Covid-19 pandemic — encouraged by his wife Jo — Andy focused fully on the business. Since then, sales have grown steadily, with products now sold worldwide, including in the US, Japan, and on platforms such as Amazon, Walmart and eBay.
While supported by influencers and a small team, Andy and Jo remain the only full-time members. Despite global success, Andy is committed to keeping the business rooted in the Lake District, maintaining its family feel and direct connection with customers.

Rigged and Ready Supports Micah’s, Until Journey’s End’s Sierra Nevada Adventures
Micah, the creator behind Until Journey’s End, has built a strong following on YouTube and social media by documenting his fishing expeditions deep in California’s Sierra Nevada mountains. His content captures true backcountry angling — hiking remote trails, camping under alpine skies, and targeting lake trout in crystal-clear high-elevation lakes where mountain lions and other wildlife roam.
