The 21st instalment of our Travel Rodcast series is here! With winter finally over, it's time to review some of the best and most interesting catches of the last few months. January, February and March!
Winter is always a special time for pike fishing, and this season definitely didn't disappoint. In fact, it's been nothing short of incredible with not one, but two 20lb+ pike caught. One from Windermere, and another from the river Ribble, both beasts of the North West! Plenty of doubles too, all landed on Rigged and Ready fishing rods!
Anglers have also had great success targeting some of the other UK freshwater predators over the last couple of months. Polish angler Gomullo, who you may have seen if you watch fishing content on Tik Tok, has done particularly well catching some huge zander and perch! And check out Vildmark's in the bottom left... eyes bigger than it's belly!
It always puts a smile on our face when we get sent pictures of what people have been catching. Especially when they're cool species we don't see too often! As our rods are perfect for travelling, international catches aren't uncommon, and here are a few of our recent favourites!
While trout season slowly opens around the country, we will be seeing more and more wild brown trout caught. First though, there was the salmon season and George from Adventure Fishing UK got off to a strong start with this one! We also saw some rainbows caught on our rods both in the UK and France. Check out that white spotted char too, caught all the way over in Japan!
A few more notable mentions that don't necessarily fit into the other categories, but are still very impressive nonetheless! it's great to see a carp caught on our new S-Mid, a compact fishing rod designed with carp fishing in mind! And of course we love to see some European black bass caught on Rigged and Ready gear too!
