Travel Rod-Cast 10
Well, the days are definitely getting shorter now! October is a great month for fishing, the water temperatures are dropping, and many consider this to be the true start to pike season. There’s something so special about the first signs of Autumn. The brisk mornings, the shorter days and the leaves falling all have an impact on angling, in many ways it makes it more challenging, but these things are all magical in their own right. Thanks for reading our 10th monthly social media roundup, and we hope you enjoy reading about what our community has been up to in October!
This month gave anglers their last chance at a salmon before the season ends. This year has been a struggle on the Salmon front, but that hasn’t stopped us trying! It’s easy to see how ‘@jolley_angling’ thought he had one on the end of the line when this beast of a wild brown trout was stripping line from his RR3000 spinning reel. Maybe next time… but an incredible fish nonetheless!
From one river monster to another, nothing says Autumn quite like a nice lure-caught pike. And what better way to target them than on a packraft or small boat! Martin from ‘@vildmark.co.uk’ does really well fishing like this and swears by his trusty Predator Travel Rod to get the job done!!
This very same rod that is massively popular amongst pike anglers has recently been put to the test against an even more formidable opponent – the catfish. This sizeable predator was caught on a lure in France by ‘@dadalezin’, what a fight that must have been. Never again can anyone question the strength and durability of our 4-piece Predator Rod! Boasting 10-30g and 20-80g configurations, it’s a rod that’s ready for anything. Even a fish like this!’
Leading us nicely onto the next noteworthy fish caught this month, there’s no prize for guessing which rod this largemouth bass was caught on! The almighty Predator does it again. This stunning fish was caught by Harry from ‘Bang Average Fishing’ over in Florida! He’s had plenty of luck on his travels so far, and you can keep up to date with them on his YouTube channel
Much like Harry, George from ‘Adventure Fishing UK’ has also been away this month. On his holiday to Madeira, he managed a whole variety of species on the trusty Fish Rig 180, from a range of colourful saltwater species to this beautiful wild rainbow trout. This particular fish was caught from a high-altitude mountain stream and was the biggest of around 8!!
Matt from ‘Adventure Is Made’ was also away in October; Rigged and Ready travel rods have had a very international month! He was out on a canoe expedition across Algonquin national park in Canada, and also decided to take the Fish Rig 180 along with him for some trout fishing! The perfect companion for Ultra-light fishing on the move
You don’t have to travel the world to be able to enjoy some excellent trout fishing though! We are fortunate enough to have plenty here in the UK, both wild and stocked. Martin’s rainbow trout is one of the first ever to have been caught on the new Infinite Travel Fly Fishing Rod. If you haven’t already seen this, it’s a rod that can be configured to two different lengths and cast weights (4 and 6). This means you have one set-up perfect for river fishing and one set up for stillwaters!
Well, that’s a first! This 16lb tigerfish was caught on the Zambezi by Tony Wilkinson using his X5 Max. The rod easily dealt with this fish, and the 26lb Vundu he also caught on his travels! It’s fantastic to see Rigged and Ready Travel Rods being used in all the corners of the globe, and Africa is no exception!
From Africa to Asia, this grouper was caught by Alan Stephens, a writer from Hook Point magazine, on his X5 adventure. He had this to say: “The latter part of August took me to Malaysia and of course my travel companion, my Rigged and Ready X5 Adventurer travel rod came along too. The target fish were Grouper and Barramundi, and the rod/reel combination was going to tested to the extreme.
The X5 is an amazing piece of kit with a range of tip sections allowing you to go from super sensitive slow action tips right up to almost broom handle stiffness fast action strengths and this was what I needed for the grouper who have rock hard mouths that require the sharpest hooks and firm strikes to set the hook. Honestly if there is a better travel rod out there, I am yet to find it. The grouper fishing was awesome with fish smashing fresh fish baits, putting up stubborn fights using their powerful muscular bodies it was great fun. A barramundi also obliged twice jumping clear of the water before finally being landed – a first for me.”
Thanks for reading this month’s round-up, and we look forward to seeing you again for next months! October has been full of new products as you may well have seen, and we couldn’t be more excited to get them into the hands of you travel rod enthusiasts!
