Tenkara is a traditional Japanese fixed-line method of fly fishing using a rod, line and fly.
The line attaches directly to the fine lilian cord at the end of the rod, creating a lightweight and uncomplicated setup that is particularly well suited to streams, becks, small rivers and other tighter fishing locations.
The Rigged & Ready Tenkara Rod extends to 8ft 4in / 254cm, yet collapses to just 12.6in / 32cm, making it ideal for backpacks, walking trips, camping, holidays and travelling anglers.
Lightweight Carbon Fibre & Soft M-Action
The 10-section carbon fibre blank is lightweight, balanced and responsive.
Its smooth Soft M-Action helps load the line during casting, produces delicate presentations and helps absorb sudden movements from hooked fish.
A spare rod tip is included, together with a protective hard carrying tube for travelling and storage.
Simple Tenkara Setup
Setting up couldn't be easier:
- Attach the supplied tenkara line to the lilian cord at the rod tip.
- Add a short length of lightweight monofilament to the end of the tenkara line.
- Tie on one of the supplied tenkara flies.
- Extend the rod and start fishing.
For most situations, approximately 3–4ft / 90–120cm of lightweight mono makes a simple leader or tippet.
Traditional tapered fly leaders are not required.
Please note: leader/tippet monofilament is not supplied with the kit.
